Harmen M. de Mol van Otterloo

(1949, The Hague) read law as of 1968 at the University of Leyden, graduated in 1974, and was admitted to the Amsterdam Bar in 1975, after completion of his military service. He joined NautaDutilh in 1978, first in the Amsterdam office, in the banking practice, and as of 1984 in the Rotterdam office, corporate matters in addition to the banking practice. As of 1988 Harmen practiced law as their resident partner in NautaDutilh’s offices in Jakarta en Singapore (mainly finance transactions and joint ventures). Hij returned to the Amsterdam office in 1993.
2000
In 2000 Harmen was one of the founders of the corporate and commercial litigation department of NautaDutilh Amsterdam, and since then he has specialised in corporate and commercial litigation. As of 2003 to 2010 he has also served as substitute judge of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. Also, he became active as arbitrator in arbitrations, in a variety of legal areas, but with a focus on the corporate field like take-over disputes, mainly through the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI). He has frequently published on corporate litigation issues and arbitration. As of 2010 he has frequently been appointed by the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal in temporary functions like investigator  and administrator of shares. He was recommended as practicing lawyer by various important legal guides – Chambers, Legal 500, Who is who (litigation), European Legal Experts 500 (“impeccable litigator, admired for his methodical, intelligent approach”).
2014
As per 1st January 2014 Harmen retired as partner of NautaDutilh. He is and will remain active in temporary functions, appointed by the Enterprise Chamber, and as arbitrator.
2015
As of 1st October 2015 he is chief executive officer of SNS Reaal Holding N.V. (‘SRH NV’). This is a parttime function. As a consequence he has no links anymore with NautaDutilh as of that date.
Harmen resides at Amsterdam, is married and has four children.
